A Weekly Astrological Look Ahead with Soul-Work Journal Prompts, Healing Opportunities, as well as Actionable Steps to Work with the Energy.

Hey Soul Seekers,
The Astrology for November 2nd – 8th gives us a breather—only two days of major transits, which always feels like a welcome pause after all the internal intensity we’ve been moving through.
Wednesday brings two aspects. First, Venus retrograde in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo—the second of three sextiles between these two benefics. The first was August 17th, and the final one will be November 28th, after Venus stations direct. This is an opportunity for growth, a doorway that requires us to consciously participate. The story actually began back on June 9th, when Venus and Jupiter met in Cancer—blending Venus’s love, beauty, and values with Jupiter’s expansion, optimism, and generosity, all within Cancer’s nurturing, protective energy. That was a seeding moment for emotional warmth, genuine connection, and generosity. Now, as Venus is retrograde, we’re re-evaluating what that seed means for each of us. What do we truly value? What kind of connection are we longing for? What needs to be released so that seed can grow?
On the same day, Mercury retrograde meets the Sun in Scorpio in an inferior conjunction—a Mercury Cazimi, a new beginning for the mind. This is deeply internal work. The epiphanies come from within. The Sun (identity, purpose) and Mercury (thought, communication) merge in Scorpio, focusing on honesty, trust, and uncovering hidden motives. Mercury is following in Venus’s footsteps—Venus had her inferior conjunction just two weeks ago. This means both planets will have or had their moment of rebirth in Scorpio with the conscious Sun. Mercury (the mind, thoughts, communication, and processing) and Venus (self-worth, values, relationships, where we find beauty and security) are both receiving a new outlook, a new beginning, deep within our consciousness and psyche. This is massive upgrade time. We are in the process of being reborn.
Thursday, Mars enters its pre-retrograde shadow in Leo. Mars will station retrograde on January 10th, but we are now beginning the first part of a story that will last all the way into June 2027. Mars is the planet of our desires, action, energy, courage, how we pursue goals, and how we assert ourselves. When Mars goes retrograde, it asks us to let go of anything that holds us back from pursuing those things—actions that don’t serve us, habits that drain our energy. Mars becomes more reflective, more strategic, more honest in its re-evaluation. This only happens about once every two years. Once Mars stations retrograde, it will lead to self-reflection, questioning motives, and reassessing ambitions. People may experience frustration, lethargy, or difficulty asserting themselves, and projects or initiatives started during this time may stall or require revision. Of course, this happens right around the New Year—when everyone makes resolutions and changes—and those changes may very well take off, but they’ll most likely be delayed or go through many revisions. We’ll be internally reflecting on our goals and ambitions. So hold realistic expectations for that time. Things might be slow to take off because we’re still re-evaluating. But massive changes can be happening deep within. Don’t discount that energy. Sometimes we have to get really clear on why we’re doing something or why we want to go after it. Starting January 10th, this will be a re-directive and introspective period. It slows our external momentum to encourage internal work, strategic thinking, and getting clear about our desires. By honoring this energy, we can refine our ambitions, resolve conflicts, and strengthen our personal authenticity. Again, this is a much larger story that will carry out into mid-year (June) of 2027.
I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead. Sending all my love.

Astrological Breakdown for the Week
The Astrology for November 2nd – 8th
This week we only have 2 days’ worth of transits. It begins Wednesday with: Venus retrograde sextiles Jupiter, 2nd part of a story that offers a doorway to growth, joy, and authenticity—if we choose to walk through it. Venus will sextile Jupiter once more (while she is direct) on Nov. 28th for the 3rd and final time. At the same time, Mercury retrograde meets the Sun in Scorpio in an inferior conjunction—a Mercury Cazimi—illuminating what has been hidden, bringing clarity to the patterns, wounds, and stories we’ve been processing for weeks. This is the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde, a moment of realization and insight. Then Thursday, Mars enters its pre-retrograde shadow in Leo, beginning a story that last several months-long of reassessing our drive, motivation, creative expression, and how we pursue what we want. This is not a dramatic week—it’s rather a reflective one. The things we are working with now will grow over the coming months all the way into June of 2027.
Wednesday, November 4th: Venus Rx (Libra) sextile Jupiter (Leo); Mercury Rx conjunct Sun (Scorpio)
On Wednesday, we experience two larger stories that have been unfolding for months. Venus retrograde in Libra forms a sextile to Jupiter in Leo, while Mercury retrograde meets the Sun in Scorpio in an inferior conjunction, the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde cycle.
Venus retrograde sextile Jupiter is a three-part story. The first sextile occurred on August 17th, the second occurs today while Venus is retrograde, and the final sextile will occur on November 28th after Venus stations direct. This sextile is an opening, a doorway, an opportunity. But sextiles are not automatic. They require participation. We must consciously choose to work with the energy for it to manifest.
This growth story actually began much earlier, back on June 9th, when Venus and Jupiter met in Cancer. Something was seeded then around emotional nourishment and growth. What was seeded back then helps us grow in relationships, in our self-worth, our values, brings us emotional fulfillment, creativity, and truly nourishes our spirit. Jupiter in Leo is growing our joy, creativity, confidence, self-expression, and the courage to be authentically ourselves. Yet Jupiter’s proximity to the South Node reminds us that growth is rarely about adding something new without first releasing something old. A quote by the poetic philosopher Seneca, comes to mind, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” We are simultaneously growing into a new version of ourselves while letting go of an old identity that no longer fits.
There is also a beautiful Mystic Rectangle active in the sky. Mystic Rectangles hold both challenge and support. The trines and sextiles offer opportunities and support, but the oppositions require us to do the work. One opposition is between the North Node in Aquarius and the South Node in Leo, along with Jupiter and Mars amplifying the Leo side. This asks us to release what feels familiar, comfortable, and known so we can move toward new growth and new possibilities. The second opposition is between Venus retrograde in Libra and Chiron retrograde in Aries. This has been working all autumn. The first opposition occurred on September 10th, the second on October 28th, and the final one will occur on November 28th.
This Venus-Chiron story is helping us heal wounds around relationships, self-worth, identity, belonging, and how safe we feel being vulnerable with others. We are being asked to release ego wounds, pride wounds, and old protective identities that once helped us survive but now prevent us from creating the connections we truly desire. This can feel exposing because it touches our heart center. It requires courage to be seen. It requires bravery to be vulnerable. Yet it is through that vulnerability that we find the relationships that truly value and understand us. That is where the healing lives.
Later in the day, Mercury retrograde meets the Sun in Scorpio in an inferior conjunction, often called a Mercury Cazimi. This is the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde journey and a powerful moment of realization, insight, and awareness. Mercury stations direct on November 13th, so we are beginning to understand why certain thoughts, emotions, conversations, memories, and patterns have resurfaced over the past several weeks.
Mercury retrograde asks us to revisit. The Sun illuminates. Together, they help us see something clearly that was previously hidden in the shadows of our psyche. Messages from the past, relationship patterns, unresolved emotions, delayed conversations, and old decisions may suddenly make more sense. This is a moment of understanding why something happened the way it did. It is a moment of recognizing what still belongs in our life and what has completed its cycle or purpose.
The Sun represents our core identity. Mercury represents our thoughts, perception, and communication. Together in Scorpio, they are helping us transform at the center of our being. Scorpio’s gift is that it helps us let something die so something new can be born. We may find ourselves grieving old versions of ourselves, old beliefs, old emotional attachments, or old ways of relating, even old relationships. This can bring up anger, sadness, denial, frustration, or any of the stages of grief because we are losing a part of who we once were.
But every ending promises a new beginning.
Like the caterpillar dissolving inside the chrysalis before becoming the beautiful butterfly, or like how the phoenix rising up from the ashes of despair, into this stoic, resilient creature, this process requires surrender of what was. We must pass through the depths before renewal becomes possible.
What it feels like: Today feels deeply reflective, emotional, and revealing. You may find yourself looking back over the past few months and suddenly understanding why certain relationships, emotions, or experiences unfolded the way they did. There can be a sense of vulnerability as old wounds surface, but also relief as pieces begin fitting together. It feels like standing between who you were and who you are becoming.
Positive expressions: This energy supports healing relational wounds, strengthening self-worth, gaining clarity around past experiences, and embracing personal growth. Venus and Jupiter help us reconnect with joy, authenticity, and meaningful connection. Mercury and the Sun provide insight, understanding, and emotional truth. The Mystic Rectangle offers support for moving through challenges and transforming them into opportunities. This is a beautiful time for reflection, journaling, therapy, creative expression, and heartfelt conversations.
Shadow expressions: The shadow may show up as grief, attachment to the past, ego wounds, pride, fear of vulnerability, or resisting necessary endings. Venus retrograde can amplify insecurities. Chiron can highlight old wounds. Mercury retrograde can create mental loops or obsessive thinking. The shadow is clinging to an old story that is already trying to leave.
The invitation: Allow yourself to outgrow who you were. Reflect on what you’ve learned since June. Notice what has changed within your heart, your relationships, and your understanding of yourself. Release the identities, stories, and wounds that no longer define you. Let yourself grieve what is ending. Let yourself celebrate what is emerging. Venus is helping you remember your value. Mercury is helping you understand the lesson. Scorpio is helping you transform. This is a rebirth process. Trust what is falling away. Trust what is beginning to take its place.
Healing Opportunity & Actionable Step:
Receiving the Clarity That’s Been Waiting to Surface
Aligned with Venus Rx sextile Jupiter (growth doorway) and Mercury Rx conjunct Sun (Cazimi — illumination and insight).
Positive Expression: Healing relational wounds, strengthening self-worth, gaining clarity around past experiences, and embracing personal growth. Reconnecting with joy, authenticity, and meaningful connection. Insight, understanding, and emotional truth.
Shadow Expression: Grief, attachment to the past, ego wounds, pride, fear of vulnerability, or resisting necessary endings. Amplified insecurities. Mental loops or obsessive thinking. Clinging to an old story that is already trying to leave.
Actionable Step: Journal: Looking back over the past few months—since June—what am I now understanding that I couldn’t see before? What patterns, wounds, or relational dynamics have become clear? What old story about myself is ready to be released? What new version of myself is beginning to emerge? Then, write a release statement: “I release the old story of ________. I am ready for ________.” Read it aloud. Allow yourself to outgrow who you were. Let yourself grieve what is ending. Let yourself celebrate what is emerging. This is a rebirth process.
Thursday, November 5th: Mars in Leo Enters Pre-Retrograde Shadow @ 20°55′ degrees
On Thursday, Mars reaches 20°55′ Leo, officially entering its pre‑retrograde shadow. While Mars does not station retrograde until January 10th, today marks the beginning of the territory Mars will be revisiting over and over again during the next several months. What comes up now matters. The themes, frustrations, desires, motivations, and challenges that emerge between now and January are not random. They are the opening chapter of a much larger story. Pay attention.
Mars will eventually station retrograde in Virgo at 10°25′, then travel backward into Leo, returning to the exact degree it enters its shadow today. Mars will remain retrograde for approximately two and a half months before stationing direct on April 1st, but it will not clear its entire retrograde shadow until June 7th. This means that for nearly half of 2027, we will be revisiting Mars themes in some way.
Mars represents our drive, motivation, instinctive reactions, courage, ambition, anger, desires, and how we pursue what we want. Whenever Mars retrogrades, our normal forward momentum slows down. Instead of charging ahead, we are asked to reassess why we are moving in a particular direction in the first place.
The Virgo portion of the retrograde will focus on how we work, improve, organize, and serve. It asks us to review our systems, routines, habits, and the standards we hold ourselves to. Are they actually helping us grow, or have they become perfectionism disguised as productivity? We may revisit old projects, reevaluate our daily routines, reconsider how we manage our energy, and assess whether our efforts are being invested wisely. Mars in Virgo wants effectiveness, but during the retrograde, it will ask us whether we’re busy for the sake of being busy or whether our actions genuinely support the life we are trying to build.
The Leo portion of the retrograde focuses on identity, creativity, visibility, confidence, leadership, self‑expression, and how we seek recognition. Mars in Leo wants to be seen, wants to create, wants to express itself boldly and authentically. During the retrograde, we begin questioning where our actions come from. Are they coming from the heart, or are they coming from a need for validation? Are we creating because it brings us joy, or because we want approval? Are we expressing our true selves or performing a version of ourselves we think others want to see?
This is why today’s pre‑shadow is important. The themes beginning now are likely connected to what Mars will spend months helping us refine.
What is especially interesting is that Mars rules both Aries and Scorpio. This means the work that Venus retrograde and Mercury retrograde are doing right now in Scorpio is connected to what Mars will be reviewing next year. Venus is reassessing relationships, values, self‑worth, intimacy, and emotional attachments. Mercury is reassessing our psyche, thoughts, communication patterns, beliefs, and mental habits. Mars will eventually arrive to ask:
Now that you’ve uncovered these patterns and wounds, what are you going to do about them?
Mars is the planet of action.
Venus and Mercury are uncovering the deeper story.
Mars will help us get clear, rewrite & reorganize (Virgo) and act boldly & authentically with courage (Leo), towards our actions and desires moving forward mid-year 2027. This is a much larger story happening within each one of us.
What it feels like: Today may not feel dramatic, but you may notice subtle themes beginning to emerge. You might become aware of frustrations around your productivity, creative expression, leadership, confidence, motivation, or the way you’re spending your energy. There may be a growing awareness that something in your life is no longer working the way it once did. It can feel like the first crack in a foundation that eventually needs renovation. We will also be working with Mars coming into its conjunction with the South Node (Nov. 14th), which is also about releasing something that has been draining our energy and drive. Something needs to change! Our desires are shifting.
Positive expressions: This energy supports awareness, reflection, and long‑term growth. Mars entering its shadow gives us advance notice of where our next major developmental cycle will unfold. It helps us identify habits that need refining, goals that need reassessing, and desires that need clarifying. This is a powerful time for paying attention to where life is asking for more authenticity, better systems, healthier motivation, and a stronger connection to what genuinely fulfills us.
Shadow expressions: The shadow may show up as frustration, impatience, perfectionism, pride, burnout, or feeling stuck. Mars can make us want immediate answers, but retrograde cycles rarely provide them quickly. Leo can create wounds around recognition, validation, or being seen. Virgo can amplify self‑criticism or unrealistic expectations. The shadow is forcing progress instead of observing what is actually being revealed.
The invitation: Pay attention. Notice what repeatedly captures your attention. Notice what drains your energy. Notice what frustrates you. Notice what you keep trying to fix, improve, or force into existence. These are likely clues about what Mars will be working on over the next several months. Venus and Mercury are currently helping you understand your wounds, your attachments, your values, and your internal narratives. Mars is preparing to take that deeper work and translate it into action. This is the beginning of a long process of refinement, healing, and authentic self‑expression. You don’t need all the answers today. You just need to notice what is beginning.
Healing opportunity & Actionable Step:
Paying Attention to the Seeds of Action
Aligned with Mars entering pre-retrograde shadow — the beginning of a several months-long re-assessment of drive, motivation, and creative expression.
Positive Expression: Awareness, reflection, and long-term growth. Advance notice of where your next major developmental cycle will unfold. Identifying habits that need refining, goals that need reassessing, and desires that need clarifying. A powerful time for paying attention to what genuinely fulfills you and what drains you.
Shadow Expression: Frustration, impatience, perfectionism, pride, burnout, or feeling stuck. Wanting immediate answers. Wounds around recognition, validation, or being seen. Forcing progress instead of observing what is actually being revealed.
Actionable Step: Journal: What have I noticed that keeps capturing my attention—frustrations, desires, creative impulses, or areas of my life that feel stuck or draining? What is one small, consistent action I can take to honor what I’m noticing—not to fix it, but to pay attention to it, to acknowledge it? Then, take that action—even if it’s tiny. Remembering that we will get more information and re-organize several times before we are happy. It’s a process. Pay attention. Notice what repeatedly captures your attention. Notice what drains your energy. Notice what frustrates you. These are the seeds of what Mars will be working on over the next several months. You don’t need all the answers today. You just need to notice what is beginning to stir that’s asking for change.
Healing Mantra for the Week:
“I don’t need all the answers today. I just need to notice what is beginning and what is ending. The seeds being planted now will mature in their own time.”
Psychology Fact:
The Stages of Grief, Identity Loss, & The Neuroscience of Letting Go
Research on grief (Kübler-Ross, Worden) shows that grief is not a linear process with neat stages—it’s a spiral. The five commonly referenced stages—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance—are not checkboxes. We can cycle through them repeatedly, sometimes in a single day. And grief isn’t just for death. It’s for any significant loss: the end of a relationship, the loss of a dream, a change in identity, the release of a version of ourselves we’ve outgrown. This is called identity grief—and it’s one of the most overlooked forms of loss. When we release an old identity, we’re not just letting go of a role or a pattern. We’re grieving who we once were. Neuroimaging shows that identity loss activates the same brain regions as physical pain—the anterior cingulate cortex and insula. This is why letting go of an old version of ourselves can physically hurt. The brain has built neural pathways around that identity. Releasing it means those pathways must be rewired—and that takes time, patience, and self-compassion. But here’s the transformative part: research on post-traumatic growth (Tedeschi & Calhoun) shows that when we allow ourselves to fully grieve what we’re releasing—without rushing, without bypassing, without numbing—we create space for profound renewal. The grief isn’t the obstacle to growth. The grief is the growth. It’s the chrysalis dissolving. It’s the phoenix turning to ash. It’s the fertile ground where something new is waiting to be born.
Relevance: The Mercury Cazimi in Scorpio brings clarity around what we’ve been holding onto—and what we’re ready to release. Mars entering its pre-retrograde shadow begins a several months-long re-assessment of our drive, motivation, and identity. Venus retrograde is helping us understand our patterns, values, self-worth, and relationship wounds. Scorpio season is the season of death and rebirth—of releasing what has completed its cycle, its purpose so something new can emerge. The shadow is clinging to an old identity or relationship out of fear, pride, or familiarity. The healing is to grieve it fully, release it consciously, and trust what’s emerging.
Practice: When you notice yourself holding onto an old identity, pattern, or attachment that no longer fits:
1. Name What You’re Releasing: Journal: “The identity, role, or pattern I’m releasing is ________. What it gave me was ________. What it cost me was ________.”
2. Honor the Grief: Say aloud: “I honor what this identity gave me. I honor what it protected me from. I grieve what I’m releasing—not because it was wrong, but because it’s time.”
3. Name the Stages You’re In: Ask: “Which stage of grief am I in right now—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, or acceptance? Or maybe all of them at once?” Journal it. Name it. Let it be what it is—not what you think it should be.
4. Write a Goodbye: Write a letter to the identity you’re releasing. Thank it. Honor it. Tell it what you learned from it. Tell it what you’re ready to become without it.
5. Release with Ritual: Tear the letter, burn it, or bury it. As you do, say: “I release you with gratitude. You were part of me once. I am not who I was. I am healing, growing, and changing.”
6. Plant a New Seed: Write one new identity, pattern, or way of showing up that you’re ready to cultivate. Place it somewhere visible.
7. Journal After: “I grieve(d) what I am releasing. I am planting what is emerging within me. What I feel is ________. What I’m learning is ________.”
This practice honors the grief of letting go—and makes space for what’s being born. You are not losing yourself. You are shedding what you no longer need so you can become who you truly are. Think of this as a snake shedding its old skin. The snake is growing and cannot fit in its original skin or previous form anymore.
Shadow Journal Prompts: (for the whole week)
- What Doorway to Growth Is Opening for Me Right Now? Venus Rx sextile Jupiter offers an opportunity for growth, joy, and authenticity—but it requires conscious participation.
Think back to June 9th, when Venus and Jupiter met in Cancer. What was seeded then around nourishment, growth, relationships, safety, abundance, values, or emotional fulfillment? Now, as Venus retrograde sextiles Jupiter in Leo, what doorway to growth is opening for you? What would it look like to walk through it? What old identity or relationship to yourself are you ready to release, so you can step into something more authentic and joyful? - What Am I Now Understanding That I Couldn’t See Before? The Mercury Cazimi brings clarity, insight, and illumination—the midpoint of the retrograde journey.
Looking back over the past several weeks of Mercury retrograde, what are you now understanding about yourself, your psyche, your patterns, attachments, or your relationships that you couldn’t see before? What messages from the past, unresolved emotions, or delayed conversations are suddenly making sense? What old story about yourself is ready to be released? What new understanding is ready to take its place? - What Am I Ready to Let Go, So Something New Can Be Born? Scorpio season asks us to release what has completed its purpose so something new can emerge.
Scorpio’s gift is transformation through release. What old version of yourself, old belief, old emotional attachment, or old way of relating is ready to die so something new can be born? What are you grieving—even if you’re also ready to let it go? What would it feel like to honor that ending, to let yourself feel the grief, and to trust that every ending promises a new beginning? - What Is My Frustration Trying to Tell Me? Mars entering its pre-retrograde shadow brings awareness to where our drive, motivation, and creative expression needs re-assessment.
What frustrations, irritations, or recurring challenges have been surfacing in your life recently—especially around your productivity, creative expression, leadership, or how you spend your energy? What are these frustrations trying to tell you? Where is something no longer working the way it once did? What is the first crack in the foundation that might need renovation? Pay attention. These are the seeds of what Mars will be working on over the next several months. - What Do I Truly Desire—Not What I Think I Should Want? Mars in Leo asks us to re-assess our desires and motivations—to notice where we’re acting from the heart versus from a need for validation.
What do you truly desire—not what you think you should want, not what would impress others, but what genuinely lights you up and feels meaningful? Where have you been pursuing something out of obligation, pride, or a need for recognition? What would it feel like to pursue what brings you joy, not because anyone is watching, but because it’s fulfilling? What one small step can you take to honor that true desire?
